Thrilling boat tour goes down Japanese Rhine, KISO River

In this one hour tour, you can enjoy the beautiful KISO River gully made by strangely shaped stones and rocks, and thrilling experience of going down eight rapid stream spots. The KISO River is one of the eight best sceneries in Japan and has a lot of attractions like a pair of rocks called MEOTOIWA (married couple rocks), lion shaped rock, and the beauty of every season.

Derivation of the name “Japan Rhein”

In 1913, the famous Japanese geographer Shigetaka SHIGA named the KISO river “Japan Rhein” after the Rhein river in Germany, because of the beautiful scenery they had in common. The valley wall consists of chert, a sedimentary type of rock, bedded at the bottom of the sea in the Mesozoic Era.
